Qatar wants UNCTAD to be pro-active

QNA

DOHA QATAR has called for concerted efforts in the right direction to address developmental challenges.

In a speech delivered before the Economic and Financial Committee of the UN General Assembly at its 67th session of 2012 on International Trade and Development, Qatar’s Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage HE Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz al Kuwari said that the world has witnessed disturbing shifts and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) should play an important role in the global efforts to address the new challenges of the world.

He called upon everyone to close ranks and continue the cooperation and partnership because this was vital for the United Nations work in the field of development, and perhaps the next four years would provide opportunities. The minister hoped that in 2015 the international community would determine a post- 2015 development agenda.
