QR8mn jewellery theft lands four Europeans in CID net

DOHA THE Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested four members of gang of Europeans who struck a jewellery shop in Al Sadd area and made off with items worth more than QR8 million.

An initial investigation indicated that there were four Europeans who entered the country by getting a visa on arrival, and that they were residing in a hotel near the gold market.

After obtaining permission from prosecutors, the CID arrested the culprits, recovering large sums of money from them.

Jewellery, watches, passports and fake credit cards were also recovered during from them. Besides, some tools used in the theft were also found. The car they were using was seized and tracked to Rent a Car company.

Interrogation of the arrested culprits revealed the complete plan and execution details of their crime.

The CID has urged businesses to take precautions to protect their properties from theft by installing surveillance cameras and early warning systems.
