DOHA THE Forum on Cultural Gap between Generations organised by the Ministry of Interior (MoI)’s Juvenile Police Department (JPD) concluded on Tuesday with a 14-point recommendation, including establishment of a parental advisory clinic to discuss and resolve conflicts between parents and children.

Assistant Director Juvenile Police Department Colonel Abdullah al Hajri presented the recommendations to the participants at the end of the three-day programme.

Speakers at the event addressed the role of civil and security institutions in bridging the gap between generations.

They discussed the causes and effects of the cultural gap between generations and how to overcome the challenges.

Speaking on the occasion, Head of Enlightenment and Media section at JPD Captain Banna al Khulaifi said the forum came as a first step towards addressing the gap.

She said the programme was part of efforts to engender collaboration among all institutions to bring generations closer .

“Civil and security institutions play a key role in bridging the gap. First they have prevention role by raising awareness and conducting research and studies to better understand the causes of the gap. They also have a role to play in treating the effects of the gap by reinforcing the law.

One thing that I recommend for our officers is to make sure that they are updated on the emerging issues related to this gap, only then they can deal with the problem effectively,” she said.

Parallel to the forum, two workshops were held for students on the steps to build selfconfidence and means of communication with their parents.
