The much awaited reshuffle of the Union cabinet will take place on Monday, before those CP Joshi also as Cabinet Minister after Ajay Make stepped down.

Joshi and make had handed over their resignation last night.

Their resignation on Sunday were accepted by President Pranab Mukherjee Rashtrapati Bhawan with immediate effect, a communique said.

Rearranging will take place on Monday evening, a Rashtrapati Bhawan-spokesman said. The rearranging-cum-extension is expected by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to fill various vacancies in his Council of Ministers.

The exercise comes one day after the revision of the Congress party apparatus in which make and Joshi along with Ambika Soni and Gurudas Kamat invoked as Secretaries-General of the party providing the Union Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and Oscar Fernandes dropped from these posts.

The names of Meenakshi Natarajan, considered close to party vice-President Rahul Gandhi and Fernandes are in Congress circles for a possible berth in the Union Council of Ministers is called.

There was also speculation that Minister of State-bound Charan Das Mahant, consisting of poll Central Chhattisgarh state in central India where the lead for Congress was attacked by the Maoists recently, will be increased.

Joshi, who held dual portfolios of surface transport and roads and railways, resigned after "guidelines" from the Congress high command, sources close to him told PTI.

"What new role the party is assigned me that I will fulfill to the best of my ability," Joshi tweeted.

, Which Minister of housing and urban poverty was, has his desire to work for the party.

His resignation comes before the parliamentary elections in Delhi later this year.

Rearranging the Council of Ministers is expected to be the last such exercise in United Progressive Alliance (UPA)-II with Lok Sabha (lower House of the Indian Parliament) elections less than a year away. This is the second reshuffle since last October.

Singh had previously said that there are some vacancies to fill them and the issue was considered.

Most recent jobs in the Cabinet are created by the resignation of Union Ministers P K Bansal and Ashwani Kumar.

Kumar resigned as law Minister after a controversy over the screening of a Central Bureau of investigation (CBI) probe report on coal blocks allocation scam.
