DOHA QATAR Telecom (Qtel) has made Qtel Passport, one of its successful roaming services, a permanent one. The major telecom service provider announced this on Tuesday.

The Qtel Passport promotional, which was launched in July, provides 100 roaming minutes for all calls and 1GB of roaming data just for QR100. Thousands of customers have availed the service since its launch with 60 mobile networks in 35 countries. The service has proven to be useful for customers travelling within Middle East, Europe and the US.

Customers who travel to Saudi Arabia for the hajj will be able to use the Passport service as it’s available on all networks in the country.

Qtel expects the service to grow with the upcoming Eid holidays in October. The company also continues to provide the service on networks throughout Middle East, Asia, Europe and the US.

Qtel Passport has a validity of seven days which can be renewed for unlimited period. Both pre-paid Hala and post-paid Shahry customers can subscribe to the service by sending an SMS or calling Qtel’s call centre.

Shahry customers can activate their Qtel Passport service by typing ‘QP’ as a SMS to 114 while Hala customers can send the same message to 121. Hala customers must have a minimum of QR100 credit balance to use the service.

Customers who use up the allowance provided by the service within the seven-day period will be charged QR1 per 1MB or QR1 per minute until its expiration.
