Girls take Quran lessons at QC camp

DOHA A ONE-WEEK camp called ‘New Step Camp’ organised by Qatar Charity (QC) to offer studies of the Holy Quran to females has concluded.

It was part of the charity’s spring break activities carried out within the context of local development.

The programme concluded with a special ceremony attended by QC officials, Bennah Maliki, director of the Crown Centre of Dignity, Badria Yaqout, head of female donors relations, and Leila Khatib, general supervisor of the camp, as well as other camp staff and relatives of the participating girls aged between 15 and 18 years.

The ceremony opened with the recital of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by screening of a film showing the camp and its activities, a competition for guests and presentations for the winning teams and camp volunteers.

Maliki praised the level of discipline and the performance of the girls during the camp and expressed her thanks to all those who contributed to the success of the event, paying special tributes to those who gave lectures to the participants, including Da’iyah Zafah Marri, Fathia Zaalana, Afifa Zili of the Hamad Training Centre and the University of Qatar team.

She also praised the efforts of QC for the benefit of society through educational and cultural activities.

The camp featured a number of activities, including cultural contests and games, plays, a workshop on selfdevelopment called ‘Learn about Yourself’, a ‘Recovery CPR’ workshop by a team from the Hamad Training Centre and an art and crafts workshop conducted by Thnwah Hajri.

The New Step Camp was one of a number of programmes organised by QCaffiliated centres for the spring break.

The Crown Centre of Dignity Rayyan (women’s branch) is currently set to launch a range of new programmes.
