DOHA MICROSOFT Corporation, one of the largest software makers in the world, introduced its popular products such as Windows 8, Office and Cloud Storage services during a session titled ‘Celebrate Windows 8’ in Doha on Monday.
Microsoft’s Office 2013, Office 365, Windows Server 2012 and Cloud productivity solutions were introduced to the audience at the day-long event.
The event, attended by representatives IT companies in Qatar, was also a platform to veiled the global software powerhouse’s new communication strategy. It focused on the Office software and high-end online file storage facility called the ‘cloud storage services’.
‘Cloud storage services’ allow users to upload files that could be accessed over the Internet from a different computer, tablet, smart phone or other network device, by the same user or possibly by other users, after a password or other authentication is provided.
Microsoft’s Country Manager in Qatar Naim Yazbeck said: “As Qatar moves towards a knowledge-based country, the advent of more competitive and diversified economic landscape is increasingly evident. We believe this technology will play a central role in enabling the shift.
“We are confident that innovation and technology will have a major influence on the current and future development of Qatar. This is an opportunity for IT professionals and business community leaders in Qatar to experience the latest technology we offer at Microsoft.” The event was described as Microsoft’s biggest annual IT event for decision-makers and technology professionals in the Gulf region. It also showcased Microsoft’s latest innovations and applications which included Windows 8, Office 2013 (the next generation of ‘Cloud’ productivity technology), Social Media, Skype, migration from Hotmail to Outlook.com and Microsoft’s fastest growing search engine ‘Bing’.
Microsoft stated that the event in Qatar “is the company’s one of five experimental technology showcases that is currently taking place in the Gulf region”. It has attracted experts from Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman and the UAE.
Regional Manager of Microsoft Gulf Ihsan Anabtawi, Director of Developer Platforms and Technologies Michael Mansour and Server and Tools Business Group Lead in Gulf Goksel Topbas were present at the press conference.
