DOHA SAK HOLDING Group, a leading Qatari real estate company, is all set to build a state-of-the-art mixed-used complex in preparation for the FIFA 2022 World Cup.

The project ‘Valley City’, the flagship scheme of the group, will be built on a three-million squaremetre area and include thousands of residential units divided into houses in different apartments and villas of different sizes, a resort attached to a four star hotel, a central park, a cultural village as well as commercial offices and recreation zones.

The project, designed by MZ Architects – Lebanon, will provide an integrated housing and business environment to meet Qatar’s growing need for modern infrastructure in the build up to the FIFA 2022 World Cup.

The ‘Valley City’ design won the best ‘Regeneration & master planning’ award at the MIPIM Future Project Award Ceremony, an international architectural event, in Cannes, France, recently.

Competitions held during the event attracted designs and plans prepared for creative architectural projects in foreign and Arab countries.

The designs were all subject to a careful assessment process by a committee of international judges.

SAK Holding Group Chairman Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah al Thani dedicated the international prize to the Emir His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al Thani and the Heir Apparent His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani for their wise leadership and hands-on approach to move the country forward.

He said: “This engineering achievement gives the real estate sector an urban development mark and will boost the company’s image in Qatar’s as well as region’s real estate market.

Sheikh Thani added: “SAK Holding Group chose the MIPIM Real Estate Forum & Exhibition as a podium to officially announce its inception both regionally and internationally because the event was a leading real estate and engineering event in the world.

“This forum attracted top decision makers, real estate developers, investors and creative engineers from across the globe. I am proud to represent Qatari company aspiring to become one of the leading real estate companies in Qatar, the region and the world. Our company has the capacity for innovation and creativity to keep pace with the Qatar National Vision for strategic development.” Explaining the vision behind the project, Sheikh Thani said, “The strategic vision behind the ‘Valley City’ springs from the increasing role of sports in urban, economic and cultural development in countries hosting similar significant regional and global sporting events. We took into account the necessity to fulfill the requirements of the FIFA 2022 World Cup, in line with the development in Qatar and the basic principles of the Qatar National Vision 2030.

He added: “Sustainability is one of the main considerations underlying the concept design of the project, guided by the Qatar Green Building Council (QGBC) and its relevant concepts such as solar energy conservation, eco-friendly buildings and low carbon transport systems, high-quality building materials from local sources, waste management as well as water consumption reduction.

Talking about the concept of the design, Engineer Marwan said: “The “Valley City” comprises three major areas dedicated to sports, entertainment and culture. Each area includes a chain of neighbourhoods with specially-designed houses, VIP villas, luxury apartments and offices featuring a hotel, resort and entertainment, sports, cultural facilities, in addition to restaurants and commercial shops. There are also buildings suitable for a wide range of uses.

Landscaping and harmonising nature with concrete constructions is given great importance to make the project a luxurious integrated breathing outlet and not only a residential place.
