IN an initiative geared towards casting the limelight on Qatar’s photographic talent, Fifty One East and Sony, a consumer electronics brand, have partnered with Qatar Photographic Society (QPS) i to hold a photo exhibition ‘See Qatar through Alpha’.
The event kicked off at Sony World, Fifty One East, Lagoona mall, and attended by QPS’s MD Ahmad al Khulaifi and officials from Fifty One East.
The exhibition where 24 photos of Qatari photographers are being displayed will continue till June 29 at Fifty One East showroom The photographers are Ahmad El Khleifi, Aref Hussein, Shadi Nasri, Anmar Fares, Hussein al Shafeai, and Mohamad al Hasel.
Fifty One East and Sony’s partnership with QPS in the exhibition aims to showcase, support and nurture photographic talents in Qatar and create interest in the art of photography among the local community.
The photographers have used Sony’s Alpha SLT-A77, the world’s fastest 12fps fullresolution continuous shooting camera with high-precision phase-detection AF.
This camera is equipped with 24.3 effective megapixel EXMOR APS HD CMOS sensor and newly-developed BIONZ image processor which give the camera unparalleled speed and accuracy.
Budding filmmakers will also benefit from a number of enhanced video capabilities in the SLT-A77.

Ahmad al Khulaifi said: “We are very pleased to partner with Fifty One East and Sony to bring such a cultural and fun event. “QPS encourages events that support the growing photographic movement in Qatar and adopt outstanding talent in this field.” Moreover, to encourage the development of photography talent, and as part of the agreement between QPS, Fifty One East and Sony, the QPS will offer photo shoot classes to all Fifty One East clients who spend more than QR500 in the electronics section of Fifty One East and Virgin Megastore.The show is open to visitors till June 29, during the opening hours at Fifty One East showroom, Lagoona Mall.
