QRC will not stop relief and medical projects in Syria

DOHA Qatar Red Crescent (QRC) does not stop its relief and medical projects in Syria.

This was revealed by Secretary General of QRC Saleh bin Ali al Mohannadi recently during a visit to the Syrian-Turkish border where he current projects for the provision of services by the QRC to appease the pains of displaced Syrians inspected.

"We will not stop one of our relief and medical projects in Syria. Relief work is inevitably and continuously for our Syrian brothers and sisters in need, "said Mohannadi.

The Chief of the QRC QRC met of administrative checks and medical staff there. He also visited a wounded victims of the Syrian crisis in some hospitals that are managed and controlled by Qatar Red Crescent. He several facilities in hospitals such as the stock medicines and the kitchens inspected.

He held several meetings with Qatar Red Crescent coordinators to be able to evaluate the progress of the programs in Syria.

Mohannadi made the journey of a field to some medical projects in the regions of Bab Al Salama and Jarablos where he visited the Bab Al Salama Clinic and hospital Jarablos.

He commended the efforts of the staff and their dedication to the work under unusual circumstances.

He told the staff that Qatar Red Crescent was committed to providing all forms of support to alleviate the suffering of people in Syria. He said the assistance for Syrians were a priority to the QRC which is active in more than 30 countries worldwide.

The Red Crescent of Qatar began his work on the Turkish-Syrian border in August 2012 to provide support and assistance to the injured and displaced Syrians. The total budget of the projects that were made and others that are still being performed is $7,380, 770.

As a result of the deteriorating security situation and the increase in violence in the northern and Eastern regions of Syria over the past six months, thousands of civilians have escaped the Syrian-Turkish border but Syrian refugees find it difficult to enter by the Turks because of the large number of people involved.

This forced tens of thousands of people, most of them women and children to stay on the border, waiting for a chance to make the camps in Turkey. She waited for so long live a life of misery because of the lack of water and sanitation services, the absence of health services, and lack of food and clean water. This required the construction of new camps to the border displaced persons safe shelter.

Accordingly, the QRC and his teams made an assessment of the humanitarian situation to meet urgent needs to identify, and based on that they distributed 5,000 food packets, drinking water and personal hygiene items for the Syrian refugees.

Qatar Red Crescent also has a specialized medical team of Qatar sent to the border area, where they work to provide medical services as well as integrated essential medicines and supplies. There is a mobile clinic there equipped with basic amenities.

Meanwhile, Qatar Red Crescent Society has set up a camp in Bab Al Salama which the first batch of 900 tents is installed. A sewer system is also in place.

In addition, tanks for drinking water, prefab bathrooms for men and women and laundries also installed. Mattresses, blankets and floor insulation materials were also distributed.

In the camp Jarablos 200 tents were erected and a plumbing system was also established. A kitchen with 20 basins and five water tanks was built in collaboration with IHH. A surface well was drilled in the camp for the supply of drinking water.

For numerous Al Abyad camp, were 433 tents that IHH and embraces 300 displaced persons established in a school near the camp. 6600 food baskets as well as some non-food items were distributed.
